SFX v.2 Feedback
This is the place for your feedback or questions about the new SFX v.2 releases. It's also where we'll plan and discuss the alpha, beta, and final launches of SFX v.2.
Please use the project group's forums for discussions rather than the various other methods. That'll help us keep things organized. You can find a link to the Group forums over to the right in the SFX v.2 box.
Below, you'll find a "river of news" style listing of the latest goings on in this project group. The list includes calendar events, forum posts, new documents, comments, images, etc.
You will need to click on the "Join Group" link in the right hand column to participate in this projects forum link posted above.
BUG? Can't edit group description
Posted November 10th, 2008 by ottodvI am unable to find a way to edit a group description. I am pretty sure it used to be possible via an "edit" tab above the group when logged in, but I can't see that tab anymore on groups that I manage.

Mozilla Store links not working
Posted June 18th, 2008 by ottodvI tried to use the Mozilla Store banners from the Affiliates Homepage but none of them worked, all redirect a person who clicks to the Firefox Download page.
These are the links which are used and fail to send a visitor to the Mozilla store:
Spreadfirefox.com update: Temporarily turning off email notifications
Dear SpreadFirefox member,
As you probably know, some spreadfirefox groups have been getting a lot of duplicate (or more!) postings. We have tracked down the issue and determined that this is happening in groups that have large number of people requesting email notifications. It has been a difficult problem but we have identified the issue and are working on a fix.
Help! Messages keep repeating all the time...
Posted February 29th, 2008 by Zelus et RadixGreetings. I'm not sure this is the place to but I found no more suitable.
Whenever I post a message, I get two, even three posts of the same. That happens to other people here in SFX AFAIHS. Quite annoying. Please help!
God bless you.

bookmark manager
Posted February 23rd, 2008 by spirit222following the instructions for Netscape 9 migration I copied the files across. The bookmarks made it, but it seems I cannot add new ones either to Firefox or Netscape 9
On the log-in information (ID and passwords) I cannot figure out how to move those across
I was hoping to act as a Firefox advocate, but i need to resolve these difficulties first

Are banners directing to correct site?
Posted February 6th, 2008 by jglassenbergI noticed that all of the banners advertised on the new site link to to SpreadFirefox. I would expect the common Firefox banner to link to downloading Firefox, rather than the SpreadFirefox community.
Just wanted to verify that the banners are in fact linked to the intended page.

Affiliate links no longer working
Posted February 5th, 2008 by sremickHaven't been here in a while, swung by to get the proper affiliate link. Noticed the redone site... looks nice, although a lot harder to use. Anyhow, current issue is that the new affiliate links don't work. For example, when I go here:
http://newsfx.spreadfirefox.com/?q=affiliates/homepage
The link given in the example button code is like this:

Change Request: Sort Groups by number of subscribers
Posted January 23rd, 2008 by ottodvThere are so many groups now, that the overview is lost.
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/og
I think we should list the groups by number of subscribers, so that the most popular ones appear on top, instead of hidden somewhere in pile.

[Bug] Search bar does not work on SpreadFirefox homepage
When entering a search term in the Search bar on the right-panel of the SpreadFirefox homepage, hitting search just sends me to the main search page. No search results appear, and I have to re-enter the search term to perform this search.
Just a minor bug.

Pro IE Feed Items!?!?!?!!
Why are there pro-MS "feed items" being posted? (and what are these really for anyway? Who needs them? You can't comment on them.)
For example:
"Samsung I600: The Pocket Internet Explorer"
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/node/614
and
"IE7Pro: Supercharge Your Internet Explorer"
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/node/607
Is there any way to report them as spam?

Disabling documents impossible
Posted January 2nd, 2008 by ottodvI have disabled documents in the Community @ SFx forum, but people can still post documents. This must be some bug. I'd ask people to use the "Start a discussion" link rather than the "create document" link. With a document no-one can post a reply, which kind of defeats the purpose of our group.

3 Browsers, One Enemy

What is the common thing between Firefox, Safari and Opera?
All of them are Windows browsers which are directly competing with one enemy, called Internet Explorer.
The shared goal of all of them is to beat IE in order to make a better web using standards.

Editing a discussion topic removes it from group homepage
Posted December 29th, 2007 by ottodvI noticed another annoying bug, when you edit a discussion topic, that topic disappears from the group home page. I have seen it happen twice now. Once I re-created the topic to get it back.
So until this is fixed try not to edit a discussion topic but rather post a reply with your correction.

Add an easy to find link to the tracker
I would suggest adding a link to http://www.spreadfirefox.com/group/tracker in the drop down menu so people can more easily see what is new. I have already bookmarked that link on my browser's personal tool bar to use like that.

This forum(?) is way too hard to use
It took me several days before I figured out how I can write anything here.
Simple fix: Add buttons at the bottom of web pages where there either are stories/comments or where you could write one. Finding a "create document" link from this navigation hell and understanding that it is the only way(?) to write a comment is way too difficult.

xhtml validity
Again, there are a lot of small errors in the html source code. E.g. on page:
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/node/168
there is method="GET" when in xhtml it should be in lower case method="get".
Front page is even worse. Unclosed img-tags a lot of unespaced amp-characters etc.

I can't understand this site anymore!
Posted December 28th, 2007 by LIJIHey,
I've been a member of SFX1 for a while, and now that you switched to version 2 I can't understand ANYTHING on this site.
First, is everything on the site other than the users deleted? I can't find any article from the old site including my "3 Browsers, one enemy" article.
Second, I can't find the useful "Track" function from SFX1.

List groups by subscribers
I think it would be practical to list groups by number of subscribers. And make this the default.
Since the most important ones should be at the top. Optionally one should be able to view alphabetically or by manager.

Multiple Managers
A question I wanted to ask was if it is possible to setup a group with more than 1 manager? It seems to me that it is not, but I think that it would be quite practical when groups grow.
Edit: Found the option "create manager" today when viewing subscribers as a list. Assuming that would add a manager and not replace the current manager.

Minor bugs/ feature requests
Hey,
I apologize if I am not supposed to create a new document for this, but that issue of posting content actually relates to one of my bugs.

I don't know exact stats of sfx visitors, but I think that 1024 horizontal resolution is for more than 50% users (including me, though I have 1280 vertical :) ).
