Offering a t-shirt in exchange for points isn't very serious, and the top 250 links page doesn't count for much because of the nofollow tags. I think if you want to motivate existing affiliates and bring professional internet marketers on board you really need to provide a monetary reward program. Reading the other comments in these forums I see some people are asking questions like "what are the use of the points?" and "do we get paid?".
My suggestion is that affiliates should be rewarded an amount that's at least 30% of the expected 1st years average profit on each of their conversions. The soon to be discontinued adsense referral program for firefox / google toolbar combination seems to pay approximately 75c per conversion.
The payment isn't just about profit, but also about reimbursing affiliates for advertising costs in promoting firefox as well as paying due recognition to affiliates for sacrificing their precious time. A more reasonable compensation program is going to result in more time, effort and money directed towards promoting firefox.
Alternative ideas, disagreements or agreements welcome....

Lithuania downloads unexpected?

Is there an anomaly in the data from Lithuania? Their statistics were reported to be comparable, if slightly ahead, of Estonia most of download day. Then suddenly they surged past Germany. Is there a mistake or manipulation, or a logical explanation? Who audits this sort of thing? I know there is some audit mechanism because of the Guinness Book of World Records attempt.

I have downloaded Firefox 3, and am using the default theme, but it looks nothing like the firefox you have been advertising. E.g. my back button is the same size as my forward button - i thought they were going to change???? Have I set it up right? I am running XP and my specs meet the requirements.

When I click download Firefox 3 the system automaticly selects the Bulgarian version (because I'm from Bulgaria :P ) and then a 404 error appear. Obviously the Bulgarian version hasn't been uploaded to the server.

Most of the firefox downloads done from India are attributed to the US. The reason being, almost all the Software companies in India have a leased line which connects to the US network. Even our IP addresses are mapped to that domain. So, all the FF3 downloads we do today will be accounted as downloads done in the US.

Apart rom no one knowing when downloads would start, by thetime I received an email, I was aready prepared to give up. Yes I'd put the advertisng banners on my website.
which were quickly deletd, when everyone realised that nothing was happening.
Finally downloaded this long awaited, firefox 3.
Installed and it crashes. Try to send crash report.

Earlier I managed to get Firefox 3 for my Laptop successfully. I just got home and tried to get it for my desktop, but the En-US download page on Mozilla (that I end up on after clicking "download 3" on World Record Page here at Spread Firefox), only shows Fx2.0.0.14 available at the moment. Firefox 3 has been lost from that page!

Are buttons and banners for FF3 in the offing? or can we adapt the FF2 buttons?

We'll need affiliate buttons to get people zooming to the mozilla.org donwload page.

Hello everybody,

How will you be counting the 24 hours of D-Day? Perhaps you should give the time limits in universal time so that we all know when we can download FF? This should have to go on the FF home page, on MozillaZine, etc.

and without any nationalism, I pointed out that it's not on the all countries list ...

On the map it shows, yes, but not on the list...

Who could be able to fix it ?

Today, I've watched my little blog's stats recorded the first time FF2 passes IE7. OK Ok, I know what you guys want to say but considering most of my readers are from China and Australia (where people mostly use IE 7 or even below), this is great! And to make it more comparable, last year IE 7 users outnumbered FF2 users by nearly 70%.

So I suppose that Download Day is in fact only 24 hours, and considering the diffrent time zones somewhere Download day could start at midday or 6pm or what ever. So it will be nice if a table with the larger citiese would be provided so that everyone knows exactly the hour when the creating the record would start.

Macedonia was misteriosly changed to FYROM after we already pledged.

When I pledged on the 28.05.2008 on the map my country was named as it should be Macedonia.

Now it has been misteriosly changed to FYROM. Why have this happened?

It is ofending that it was changed in the map after I and ~1.300 from Macedonia already pledged to participate in the Download day when you called my country with it's proper name.
