When did YOU start using Firefox?

As I walked home today, my mind drifted into Mozilla bliss, and I tried to recall the day that I started using Firefox...

As you may think, I was unable to find the exact date or time. I know why. The first time I downloaded it, I downed it because

I was tired. Tired of Microsoft's over-expensive licensing of their products. Mostly, I was just tired of Internet Explorer,

so I went on a little hunt to find an appropriate alternative to IE. I found Firefox, downloaded it, and I fell in love with the tab

feature. Haven't looked back, since....

So, my question is, when and why did YOU start using Firefox?

winter

I began to use FireFox most recently - this winter.

Sometimes

I wonder sometimes, how normal people are supposed to know about Firefox.
Take my sister, for example. At university, and she doesn't use Firefox.
Why? She doesn't even know of any other browsers, except Opera mini for her mobile.
And she doesn't care. I guess the only way people will hear about it, is if they hear it by means of mouth

Microsoft + Shareware = EVil

2003 or 2004

I started using firefox in about 03 or 04 and the guy that hooked up my high speed internet from the local cable company told me about it. The tab browing hooked from the first. I hate that I still have to us IE sometimes. I'm in real estate and the site where we pull up the local MLS only works with IE.

I can't remember neigther,

I can't remember neigther, maybe when it was on the 1.5 version, I don't know, like XERXES when I feel the tabs I never look back.

Started with Phoenix

I don't remember what year it was, but Phoenix 0.4 was the current version. I had been using Netscape 4.7x instead of (the pos) IE. Once I discovered Phoenix, despite the warnings about it not being a stable release, I D/L'd it & haven't looked back. It was probably the tabbed browsing that initially caught my interest the most. I was tired of all the windows IE would open when following links. And can you say buggy? Was there ever (or still) a buggier, insecure browser than IE?

Working with FF3 RC2 now.

Firefox, how I love thee

I remember the day well when I started using Firefox, around 4 years ago. It was a cold, rainy day as I sat browsing the web with IE, wishing there was something better out there. I then remembered a friend saying he was using something called Firefox, and loving it. I decided to give this sporty little fox a try, so I downloaded it. Well, the clouds parted, the sun came out and I haven't looked back since. I use Firefox everywhere, on my windows box at work, my linux box at home, even on my Mac Book Pro. Thanks Mozilla, you guys are the best! --- In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

Haha

"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?" LOL

pheonix

I started using firebox back when it was phoenix. I don't remember for sure what version it was, but I'm pretty sure it was .3 or .4, http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/phoenix/releases/0.3/ .  Prior to phoenix, I was using Mozilla. http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla0.7/

2003? Cool.

I started using it early 2005. I should have gone exploring before that time though.
Are you able to speak Afrikaans? Just wondering...

Ahh, yes. I remember using

Ahh, yes. I remember using firefox first back in the hayday when it was called "firebird" or something like that. I downloaded it because I, too was tired of Internet Explorer's many flaws. If I remember right, this was somewhere around November/December 2003.
