Spreading Firefox

I was thinking that a good idea would be to maybe print out some pages with the firefox logo and web address on them, maybe with a short paragraph on why firefox is a better browser to use for suring the web and then post them through letter boxes or just put them up on notice boards. I have attached a sample version of what could be used.

A firefox banner could also be placed on your myspace or web pages if you have any.

let me know what you think :)

What part are you playing for the upcoming test? Will Firefox do

Hi all,

I've already started playing my part! I've just created an announcement and it is being displayed in every forum on my tech site -- here's the announcement: http://www.techsupportteam.org/forum/chit-chat/announcement-download-day...

Discuss here: http://www.techsupportteam.org/forum/debating-room/2477-download-day-200...

I'm going to add to a few other places, as I really want Firefox to do this -- you deserve it for everything you've done.

As a side note, will Firefox 3 be released to other sites such as MajorGeeks? I shouldn't think so, as you'll need to count ALL the downloads. Get your servers ready hehe.

I'm helping to spread Firefox

I am trying to get Cardinal Newman School in the UK (my school) to use Firefox. I am writing reports every Friday about the project and if I can, I will upload them here. I've done my first report already! :-) (P.S It looks harder than it is!)

Agreed!

You are so right, I often think about how I would like us to mobilize and go door knocking as well! It seems when we actually get in front of someone, and explain what Firefox is and what we are doing - they get it. Usually BIG time!

The letter boxing - is a great idea. Perhaps we could convince Firefox users everywhere to simply take the street where they live/work and letter box it. We wouldn't be asking for hundreds of houses... but every little helps.

We could add to the print out "if you are already a passionate Firefox user - go to SpreadFirefox.com and find out how you too can help.

Happy weekend!

But keep it relevant

Some of the suggestions I've seen for spreading Firefox seem almost fanatical. It's a BAD IDEA to give a flyer or software CD to the cop that just gave you a ticket. Knocking on doors to promote The Cause makes you look like just another virgin geek with no people skills and no life outside the computer world.

Better idea: Keep it relevant. Stay in a computing context and don't bother the cleaning lady with an all-out assault on why she should "convert". If you get into a discussion on computers with her, well, go with it. I give FFx things to my clients who use computers, and I broach the subject of Internet browsers. Capice?

Paper!

I think paper is more effective than people give it credit for. And right now it's really the people who don't spend that much time in front of a computer that really need convincing. Do post some up!

Cards

If you want to invest a little money, Vista Print does small quantities of custom print jobs, including business cards, postcards, oversize postcards, magnets and more. I use them for my own business.

Also, use things like Print Shop or other desktop publishing software to make these items. There are many kinds of print media available. I just used a business card template to make ten magnets for FFx promotion, f'rinstance.
